“I've sat in the third booth every weekday for eleven years. They start my coffee when they see my truck. The meatloaf Monday is non-negotiable.”

Earl and Wanda Pruitt opened the Blue Plate in 1962 with a borrowed grill, fourteen counter stools, and Wanda's pie recipes written on index cards. Their daughter runs the register now, their grandson runs the grill, and those index cards — splattered and sacred — still live by the pie case.
The booths have been re-covered four times. The regulars have not moved seats once.
